How To Apply - New Applicants to Degree Studies

All Ontario University applications are processed through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC). OUAC is responsible for collecting application information and distributing it to Ontario universities.

The following information is for applicants wishing to pursue a degree at the University of Waterloo.

Official* high school transcripts (including high school courses you have taken after high school graduation) Always (even if you have not completed your high school diploma)
Official* transcripts from all post-secondary schools you have attended (colleges and universities) If you have taken any courses from a college or university

Official transcripts must be sent directly from the institutions attended to the Registrar's Office. Please allow 4-6 weeks for their delivery.

The Application Cost:

There is a non-refundable processing fee of $85.00 CAD for each application. There may also be additional costs for students applying from outside of Canada and for transcripts that are ordered at the time of application. Your application will not be forwarded to the University of Waterloo until all required fees have been received.

The Application Process:

  1. Use the Waterloo degree studies application form. This link is not directly available on the OUAC website.
  2. Official transcripts from most universities and colleges in Ontario can be ordered while completing your Application. You will need to arrange for all other official transcripts* to be sent to the address below. Please ensure that your OUAC number is attached to all information.

  3. Within two weeks of submitting your application and payment, you will receive your UW Student Identification Number by email from the University of Waterloo with further instructions.
