About Part-Time Studies

At Waterloo, you may pursue degree studies on a part-time basis in a variety of disciplines and, because of the term system, study throughout the calendar year. Part-time is defined as a course load of one or two courses per term. The University makes many of its credit programs accessible to you through daytime and evening classes on campus, and through extensive online course offerings.

All of the requirements for certain undergraduate degrees from the Faculties of Arts or Science can be fulfilled through part-time study.* Admission to these programs is based on academic background and anticipated study goals. You can also choose to pursue a certificate or diploma from Waterloo through part-time study.

If your goal is to work toward a Waterloo degree or just take a few courses, we're here for you. If you have any questions, please contact us. We'll help you get started.

*Please note that not all programs at Waterloo are available through part-time study. Some courses (e.g., courses in Accounting and Financial Management or Computer Science) are restricted to students in certain degree programs. Admission to the University does not guarantee course enrolment.
